As seen on The Block 2026

There are some moments as an artist that feel a little surreal - and seeing my original painting Mystical Wildflowers appear on Australian TV show The Block 2026 was definitely one of them.

To see a painting that began in my studio become part of a beautifully styled home (in the rumpus room) by father and daughter, Rick and Tayla, was incredibly special.

Mystical Wildflowers Painting in the rumpus room on The Block 2026

The inspiration for The Block

Mystical Wildflowers is a painting inspired by the feeling of being surrounded by Australian wildflowers - not a literal representation of a particular garden or landscape, but an expressive interpretation of nature through colour, shape and movement.

The 2026 season is set in Mt Eliza, Mornington Peninsula, which is renown for its stunning coastal scenery, award-winning cool-climate wineries, and relaxing natural hot springs and wellness retreats. I wanted to use a softer colour palette to reference the wellness feel of this area. With a neutral base and pops of green, ochre orange and soft blue for the coastal reference. I think it was the perfect choice for the location and home it is in.

For me, the beauty of this abstract botanical art is that it allows you to experience nature through feeling, rather than simply seeing it. The softer natural colour palette inspired by the Australian landscape also helped give this room a calm and tranquil feeling to help relax anyone in the room.

One of my favourite things about creating artwork is seeing how a painting changes and becomes even more beautiful when it becomes part of a home.

A painting isn't simply something to fill an empty wall. It can influence the atmosphere of a room, introduce colour, create a focal point and bring a little more personality into a space.

You can see how this painting blends beautifully with the lush green sofa and picks up on the softer more neutral tones of the room.

Nature has an incredible ability to make us feel connected, calm and uplifted. I love how the nature theme has helped compliment this room and keep a grounded feel.

Seeing Mystical Wildflowers featured on the TV show The Block was such an amazing experience and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity.

My paintings are created for people who want their homes to feel personal, colourful and connected to nature.

I work intuitively, combining expressive brushwork, organic shapes and layers of colour to create contemporary botanical artworks that are designed to evoke a feeling rather than simply depict a flower.
