ARTIST STATEMENT

AMBER GITTINS | LIMESTONE COAST | AUSTRALIA
Amber Gittins creates art that explores the relationship between nature, colour and emotional presence. Drawing inspiration from botanical forms, Amber translates elements of the natural world into abstract compositions that focus more on feeling over their representation.

Through layered colour, organic movement and considered placement, Amber aims to create paintings that bring a sense of calm, balance and natural energy into a space. Nature acts as a starting point — a reference for growth, rhythm and softness — while abstraction allows the work to remain open, personal and enduring.

Amber’s work is intended to be lived with — collected for its emotional pull, visual impact, luxurious indulgence and ability to connect natures calm energy into contemporary interiors.

GET TO KNOW AMBER

Amber Gittins is a full time artist living in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia. Amber is a dog mumma, exercise and wellness nut and caravan exploring adventurer.

Amber has always had a sense of fun and adventure and after completing her Bachelor of Visual Communication at the University of South Australia in the early 2000's, she left Australia to spent 7 years traveling the world as a care free backpacker.

Coming home to Australia, Amber worked in stressful high paced computer careers in Graphic Design and Investment Banking. After years in the corporate world she realised that this hectic daily grind was too much for her. Her health and lifestyle took a back seat, and she realised she needed an outlet to clear her mind and bring back the inner calm.

She remembered her childhood love of creating, drawing and painting for hours as a child. So she picked up a paint brush and started painting from her dining room table. She started sharing her creations on Instagram and surprisingly people were loving it.

She took a chance and started selling them - and they took off. It was crazy and inspiring to see strangers online were also needing some colour, happiness and calm in their lives. She wanted this to be her full time career. Two years later, on April 18th, 2019 she achieved this.

Amber continues to create daily from her art studio in her backyard, with her two puppy dogs by her side. Her paintings are predominantly large scale and full of bold joyous colour. Nature is her inspiration, she loves the endless colours, organic formations and calming energy it brings.
